Many From Across the Leasing and Finance Sector Joined Hickman Shearer at their Inaugural Insiders Event
The event at the MINI Factory in Oxford on the 20th October, explored ‘how will decarbonisation impact machinery and equipment funding?’. Hosted by Hickman Shearer who are asset valuation, sales and management experts; the specially developed agenda attracted many who wanted to know and understand more about how the leasing and finance industry needs to respond to the sustainability conundrum.
The recent Insiders Event brought together key players from the leasing and finance sector to explore the critical issues surrounding the shift to electric vehicles and low-carbon assets. Tim Campbell from Campbells Consultancy kicked off the event with an insightful session on evaluating the transition to electric mobility. He highlighted the various local and global influences driving the change, the potential solutions on the horizon, and what steps can be taken now to prepare for the future. Campbell emphasized that understanding these dynamics is crucial for companies looking to make the shift successfully.
James Wallace, representing Elysia Battery Intelligence from WAE Technologies, followed with a deep dive into the essential role of battery systems in the electrification revolution. He stressed that unlocking the full potential of these systems will be vital for the industry’s progress. Wallace explained that software, which is hardware and usage agnostic, will be key to understanding battery degradation, providing crucial insights for ensuring efficiency and longevity in electric fleets.
Hickman Shearer’s own Tim Chapman then addressed the rapid changes happening in capital assets, particularly in sectors like transportation, in response to climate change. Chapman highlighted the pivotal role lessors play in enabling low-carbon growth through funding these assets. As the industry evolves, asset valuation and sales processes are being fundamentally redefined to meet the demands of this transformation. His talk underscored how the leasing and finance sector is crucial in driving sustainable change.
The event concluded with a personalized tour of the MINI Factory in Oxford, offering attendees the opportunity to network and gain insights into the complete assembly process.
